MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:
The St. Louis Cardinals got a strong start from Erick Fedde during a 5-2 win over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Fedde earned his ninth win after striking out ten and holding Colorado to a run on six hits in seven innings. Pedro Pages had two hits and two RBI in the victory, while Ryan Helsley secured his 48th save. St. Louis is on a four-game winning streak.
The Cardinals will try to complete a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies when the two teams face off at Coors Field today. The Cardinals can clinch a winning record for the 16th time in 17 years with a win. Kyle Gibson takes the mound for St. Louis this afternoon. First pitch is at 2:10PM.
The Chicago Cubs were knocked around for 13 hits during a 9-6 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizen’s Bank Park. The Northsiders are in third place in the NL Central at 81-and-78. The Cubs host Cincinnati tomorrow.
The Chicago White Sox staved off a record-setting 121st loss for the second night in a row. Chicago earned a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels yesterday. The Southsiders are 38-and-120. They send Chris Flexen to the mound against the Angels today.
