The Wayne County Farm Bureau is pleased to present four Community Impact Grants in 2024. A total of $6,000 in grants were awarded for 2024 projects. The 2024 Impact Grant recipients are:
Johnsonville Elementary PTO, “Johnsonville Elementary School Playground Upgrades”, $1,500
Johnsonville Community Ruritan Club, “Community Ruritan Building Remodel”, $1,500
Village of Mt. Erie, “Sidewalk Handicap Ramp” – $1,000
University of Illinois Extension, “Wayne County Pollinator Garden” – $2,000
The goal of the Wayne County Farm Bureau Community Impact Grant Program is to partner with local groups and individuals on projects that will have a long-term impact in our community. This is the tenth year of the project. Almost $59,000 in grant funds have been awarded since 2014 through the Community Impact Grant program. ***SEE PICS AND BIO BELOW***
Johnsonville Ruritan Club: The Johnsonville Ruritan Club was awarded a Wayne County Farm Bureau 2024 Community Impact Grant. The Ruritans used the grant funds to support the interior renovation of their community building in Johnsonville. Extension: The University of Illinois Extension was awarded a Wayne County Farm Bureau 2024 Community Impact Grant. Extension used the grant funds to begin a new phase of the pollinator garden located on the campus of Frontier Community College. This first phase of the garden features various pollinator plants, perennial plants, and mulched areas. The garden will be featured in various educational programs, trials, and summer 4-H classes. Johnsonville School PTO: The Johnsonville Elementary School PTO was awarded a Wayne County Farm Bureau 2024 Community Impact Grant. The PTO volunteers used the grant funds add several new features to their school’s playground for this school year. Village of Mt. Erie: The Village of Mt. Erie was awarded a Wayne County Farm Bureau 2024 Community Impact Grant. The village council used the grant funds to add new concrete entryway with a welded handrail.
