OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

The month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Illinois Department of Public Health is reminding the public that early detection is the most effective way to prevent the deadly disease, which is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women. Officials say regular mammograms can help find breast cancer at an early stage when treatment is most successful. This is why anyone who might have put off getting screened in recent years should do so as soon as possible.
