CROSS COUNTRY FROM TUESDAY:
At the Roger Lee Invitational Cross Country Meet in McLeansboro on Tuesday, Fairfield dominated both the Boys and the Girls Race.
Ella Sager of Fairfield led the charge in the girls race, as the Lady Mules put 7 of the first 9 runners across the finish line. Fairfield finished with 15 points, followed by West Frankfort with 50. There were a total of ten schools competing in the girls race.
In the boys race, Grant Jennette of Fairfield was the overall medalist, followed closely by Skylar Bladel. The Mules won with a team score of 21, placing six runners in the Top-10. Christ Our Rock placed second overall at 39, followed by Hamilton County at 71. There were ten schools competing in the boys race.

BASEBALL NEWS:
A trio of St. Louis Cardinals players are being recognized for their outstanding defense during the 2024 season. Third baseman Nolan Arenado, shortstop Masyn Winn, and utility player Brendan Donovan were all named as Gold Glove finalists yesterday. The Gold Glove awards are given to the best defensive players at each position in each league. The award winners for each position will be announced on November 3rd. Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson and left fielder Ian Happ were both named as finalists for the National League Gold Glove Awards, while White Sox second baseman Nicky Lopez is a finalist in the American League.
