In 2018, Casey’s bought property just west of The Chop Shop between Main & Delaware St. with the intention of building a new Casey’s General Store in Fairfield. Since then, the lot still remains vacant today. It was recently learned that inquiries have been made regarding the status of the property and according to Marni Black, a Real Estate Property Specialist with Casey’s, they still have plans to rebuild on this ground in the future and do not have any interest to sell the ground. Also, according to another spokesperson Katie Petru, Director of Communications for Casey’s, they currently don’t have a specific timeline as to when new construction will begin on the site.
