During the latest meeting of the Cisne Village Board, members approved the transfer of funds from the water depreciation account to both the checking and bonds and interest accounts. The board authorized two transfers: $15,000 into the water checking account and $6,000 into the water bonds and interest account to address bills submitted by Charleston Engineers.
Board member Larry Obrecht expressed his concerns about the park pavilion used by the Masons during the Cisne Reunion, pointing out that the power line is low enough to be reached. He discussed potential updates with Russell Smith from R/S Electric, who provided cost estimates for upgrading the pavilion’s lights and breaker box—$3,795 without covers and $4,545 with covers. Obrecht noted that Smith would donate his labor, and the Masons would also assist. However, he mentioned that the costs had risen due to hurricanes Helene and Milton, suggesting the project be postponed until spring when prices might stabilize.
Obrecht requested a confirmation vote from the board on whether to pursue the project, abstaining from voting himself. Fellow board member Charlie Brach stated he would vote against it, advocating for a search for multiple bids.
Village Clerk Vicky Mugrage inquired about preparations for the Christmas light display at the park. It was agreed that Dave Bullard would compile a list of necessary repairs to present to the board.
Mayor Roy Atwood highlighted an overgrown property near Eber Bright’s and the former Mix house, proposing that the village hire someone to clear the area and place a lien on the property. Two other properties were also mentioned: one owned by June Galbraith and the old lumber yard property belonging to Joe Tannahill.
No decisions were made following this discussion.
