The Edwards County Clerk & Recorder’s Office in conjunction with the Village of Browns recently has concreted the parking area at the Browns Village Hall and Community center to make the entry now handicap accessible.  Now ADA accessible, the facility is equipped with a concrete parking lot and entry into the voting area. Brent Speir Concrete Construction was the contractor who poured the concrete for the Village of Browns.  The funding that made these improvements possible was secured through a grant offered to Election Authorities throughout the state to help update Polling Plance Accessibility (PPA) used in elections.

Edwards County Clerk, Mary Beth Smith requested funding for the Village of Browns to be updated in order to be ADA compliant. There will be other temporary and permanent improvements made throughout the year to other polling locations within the County. The total amount awarded through the Polling Place Accessibility grant was $34,275.79 and will be spent on ADA compliance upgrades for all polling locations for the Edwards County Elections.
