A man from Rinard, 40-year-old Cody L. Cook, has been arrested on multiple methamphetamine and firearms charges while awaiting sentencing for previous drug and gun offenses in Wayne and Clay Counties. The 40-year-old was taken into custody at 6:10 AM on Wednesday by the Illinois State Police.
Cook now faces serious charges, including a Class-X felony for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon by a convicted felon, theft of property valued between $500 and $10,000, and criminal fortification of a residence.
At the time of his arrest, Cook was scheduled to be sentenced in Wayne County on December 10th for multiple meth and firearm charges, as well as in Clay County on November 25th for theft over $500 but less than $10,000.
