Rivers and Drought Info

Area river stages as of this morning are as follows:  the Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is at 3.98 feet.  Flood stage is 17 feet.  At Clay City the stage is 3.68 feet.  Flood stage is 18 feet.  At Carmi the river is at 3.02 feet.  Flood stage is 27 feet.  The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 4.92 feet.  Flood stage is 15 feet.  The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 2.27 feet.  Flood stage is 19 feet.  Bonpas Creek at Browns is at 1.07 feet.  The current weather forecast is showing some rain chances for the area later this week, with showers currently likely on Thursday, with lingering chances on Friday.

Not much change this week from last week, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor Map.  It still shows Wayne and surrounding counties out of any dry conditions.  Areas north of Wayne County are Abnormally Dry, while central and northern Illinois are in a Moderate Droughtand the northern tip of the state is in Severe Drought.  Above normal temperatures and precipitation are expected in the extended outlooks, running through November 8th.
