Yum Brands is removing onions from certain KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell locations following an E. coli outbreak associated with McDonald’s. The company stated that this precautionary measure was taken to ensure customer safety.

The outbreak has resulted in nearly 50 confirmed cases across ten states, including one fatality. In response, McDonald’s has halted the sale of Quarter Pounder hamburgers at around 20% of its locations. Additionally, on Wednesday, restaurant supplier U.S. Foods—who does not provide onions to McDonald’s—recalled four onion products.
