JEREMY TUCKER SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS IN PRISON FOR THE JUNE 2023 CRASH THAT KILLED A FAIRFIELD TEEN

46-year-old Jeremy L. Tucker of Fairfield was sentenced in Wayne County Circuit Court Tuesday by Judge Denton Aud to 14 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections  for the June 5th, 2023 death of 15-year-old R.E. Carter of Fairfield. According to Wayne County State’s Attorney Kevin Kakac, Tucker will have to serve 85 percent of the sentence as this was the maximum sentence allowable under the law for aggravated DUI under the circumstances involving death.  Tucker was charged with aggravated DUI causing the death, a Class 2 Felony, and DUI, a Class A Misdemeanor.  Wayne County Sheriff Deputies, Kody Moore and Bobby Warren along with Illinois State Police Trooper, Zachary Miller was called to testify to the court by Wayne County State’s Attorney, Kevin Kakac.  Tucker was represented by attorney, Jon Meador.

 

Illinois State Police say Tucker was driving a truck tractor semi-trailer at 1800 East and 350 North in Wayne County when he crossed the center line and caused Carter, the driver of the dirt bike to lose control and crash.  Judge Denton Aud advised Tucker of his rights to appeal the sentence.
