Illinois is sorting through a number of submissions for its state flag redesign contest. Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias announced that nearly five-thousand state flag redesign entries were submitted to the Illinois Flag Commission. The commission will now select ten designs before the end of the year. The public will then vote on the designs. Afterwards, the Illinois General Assembly will decide on whether to adopt a new flag or keep the current flag design.
