CLASS 1A EDWARDS COUNTY REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME TONIGHT (THURSDAY):
Wayne City vs Edwards County 6pm
Wayne City will take a fan bus to tonight’s regional championship game. The bus will be available to any 6th-12th grader. Bus will leave at 4:50 to head to Albion. The bus will stop and eat at McDonald’s after the game. Admission to the game is $6. There will be no cost to ride the bus. Students should get a permission slip at school today and have it signed before you get to the bus. Game time is 6:00pm.
Additional Regional Championship games in Class 1A and beyond will be played throughout Southerrn Illinois and the state tonight.

MLB WORLD SERIES:
For the second time in five years the Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series Champions. The Dodgers clinched their eighth championship in franchise history after rallying for a 7-6 win over the New York Yankees in Game Five. Teoscar Hernandez hit a two-run double to tie the game in a five-run fifth inning for Los Angeles. A pair of sac flys off the bats of Gavin Lux and Mookie Betts put the Dodgers up in the top of the eighth. Freddie Freeman was named Most Valuable Player after hitting four home runs and tying a World Series record with 12 RBI.

The St. Louis Blues aim to avoid their third loss in a row when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center tonight. The Blues lost to Ottawa Senators 8-1 on Tuesday night. St. Louis is in fourth place in the Central Division with 10 points and a 5-5-and-0 record. Tonight’s game starts at 6:00PM. The St. Louis Blues are keeping around one of their forwards for another year. The team signed winger Alexey Toropchenko to a one-year contract extension earlier this week. The deal is worth one-point-seven million dollars and it keeps the 25-year-old in St. Louis through the 2025-26 season. Toropchenko has one assist in eight games this season.
The Chicago Blackhawks look to get a winning streak going when they visit the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center tonight. The Blackhawks are coming off a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Monday, snapping their four-game losing streak. Chicago is in last place in the Central Division with seven points and a 3-6-and-1 record. Tonight’s game starts at 9:30PM.
