At Tuesday night’s meeting of the Cisne Village Board, it was announced that the Christmas in the Park event will take place on Friday night, December 6th. Village Clerk Vicky Mugrage requested a $500 donation from the Village to support a gift basket giveaway and potentially horse-drawn carriage rides. Board members Sherri Pennington and Jessica Lane are spearheading the event’s organization.

The board unanimously approved a motion to transfer $10,000 from the Water Depreciation Fund to the Water Checking Fund. They also agreed to purchase a half-page ad in the high school basketball program for $80. Additionally, village employees will receive Christmas bonuses of $500 after taxes, a motion that also passed unanimously.

Ongoing discussions regarding the veterans memorial involve board member Jimmy Barnfield, who is collaborating with Pyramid Marble and Granite from Effingham on the design and cost. Barnfield noted that a potential donor is interested in contributing to the fund but is waiting to learn the monument’s cost, with the possibility of a significant donation.

The board acknowledged that the cleanup of the Galbraith property is progressing, with the trailer and blocks removed. In a separate matter, it was reported that Legg’s old storage units had been broken into, resulting in one patron losing a considerable amount of belongings. The thieves had cut the locks and took their time emptying the unit.
