Illinois State Police Troop 9 along with Wayne City Fire and Ambulance personnel responded Wednesday morning to I-64 westbound at milepost 91 for a report of a single-unit traffic crash. State Police say just before 12:30, a Ford Explorer was driving westbound on I-64 and for unknown reasons, the Ford Explorer overturned trapping the driver in the vehicle. Wayne City Fire Chief, Scott Clark says his department extricated the driver out of the vehicle and the driver was then airlifted from the scene by Air Evac to a regional hospital with serious injuries. Lanes were initially closed and reopened at approximately 3:00am. Illinois State Police continue to investigate the accident.
