Colyer Coffee House, a popular coffee shop in Albion, welcomed customers back this morning after being closed for nearly seven months due to a devastating fire that destroyed the historic building. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
The Millers, Meredith and Justin, purchased the building in 2016. In April, they received an unexpected call informing them that a fire had broken out upstairs, resulting in extensive damage to the interior. Despite the destruction, many original elements are expected to be preserved, including a sign from Meredith’s father, which miraculously survived a tornado in the past.
The Millers credit the Albion Fire Department and the supportive community for helping salvage what they could. Looking ahead, the owners view this as a chance to start anew and rebuild their coffee house.
