Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Paducah are warning that a wave of frigid temperatures will sweep across the region as we transition from November to December.
The most severe cold is expected from Sunday to Tuesday, with temperatures potentially dropping to 20 degrees below average. During this frigid spell, daytime highs are likely to be in the lower to mid-30s, while nighttime lows could fall into the teens. Wind chill factors will further exacerbate the chill, bringing temperatures down to the single digits and teens during the morning hours.
Although significant winter weather is not anticipated, some light snow showers may occur from Saturday into Sunday.
Organizations that support unhoused individuals and other vulnerable groups are advised to prepare for several days of dangerously cold conditions.
