Nadine Louise (Bell) Padgett,78, Fairfield, passed away peacefully on December 6th, 2024, at her home. She was born in San Diego, CA on December 3, 1946, the daughter of Elbert T. Bell and Neva M. (Kuhnhenn) Bell who were a military family. Nadine was a daughter-in-law to Perry E. and Nadine P. Padgett. She met Kenny while he was stationed in Lincoln, NE on a B47 bomber. He was the crew chief. They were married in Lincoln, NE on February 14, 1965, with thirty-two inches of snow on the ground. Kenny had to leave for tour to Vietnam as the crew chief on a C130 airplane.
Nadine was a housewife and later worked at Fairfield Walmart for 13 years. She went with her husband on the road and helped him, also doing his paperwork. The boss always bragged about her handwriting. Nadine and Kenny had four children Timothy, Shannon, Jennifer, and Christopher. She was a member of the Union North C.P. Church.
Nadine was full of life and always had something to talk about. She loved to hand embroidery and had several items in her stash. She hand quilted for years at the C.P. Church as well. Quilting is something Nadine passed down to her daughters. Nadine loved to go camping with Kenny whenever they got the chance. They did a lot of camping when they were working in eight different states while on the job. Kenny was a pole inspector, and Nadine did his paperwork for the 18 years on his job while living in their camper they pulled everywhere. Kenny worked for O&M Services. Nadine enjoyed talking to his bosses when they asked who did the paperwork. Nadine loved ice cream from Dairy Queen. She was a soloist in the Rebekah Lodge and sang at Illinois State and was the Grand Marshall at the State Assembly.
Nadine is survived by her husband of 59 years- Kenny Padgett; Children- Tim (Lisa) Padgett, Jennifer (Shelby) Davis, and Christopher Padgett; Son in law Monty Garrison; Nadine has several nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, daughter- Shannon R (Padgett) Garrison, and one brother- Gary E Bell.
Funeral Services will be held at 1PM on Tuesday December 10, 2024, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union North C.P. Church for their ministries and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of all the arrangements.
