An Edwards County woman, Michaela Greathouse. won the Illinois Farm Bureau State Young Leader Discussion Meet while at the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Chicago this past weekend. A discussion meet is a competitive event simulating a committee meeting where discussion and active participation are expected from each participant. The competition is evaluated on an exchange of ideas and information on a pre-determined topic. Participants are judged on basic discussion skills, their understanding of important agricultural issues, ideas to solve problems, and how they interact with other contestants. By winning the state discussion meet, Greathouse will represent Illinois Farm Bureau at the American Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmers & Ranchers Discussion Meet. She also won a series of prizes sponsored by the Illinois Farm Bureau and other discussion meet sponsors.
Greathouse lives in rural Albion, along with her husband Charlton and 3 children. The family owns and operates Greathouse Grazing Acres Market in Albion.
