URGENT HOLIDAY SHIPPING DEADLINES APPROACHING

By Mark Wells Dec 18, 2024 | 11:45 AM

With Christmas just a week away, important shipping deadlines are approaching to ensure your packages arrive on time for the holiday season.

Tim Norman, spokesperson for USPS Illinois, highlighted key deadlines to keep in mind: today is the last day for USPS Ground Advantage and First-Class mail, while the deadline for Priority mail is tomorrow. For Priority and Express mail, the deadline falls on Saturday.

For shipments heading to Alaska, Hawaii, or international destinations, it’s advisable to send those packages as soon as possible.

Norman noted that, thus far, there have been no significant delays or issues, but emphasized that holiday planning requires more time than one might expect. “We start preparing for these busy periods right after the last peak season ends, continually looking for ways to improve for the next year. It’s not something we leave to the last minute,” Norman stated.

He also mentioned that USPS has upgraded its equipment to expedite package processing.

Despite being short-staffed, the American Postal Workers Union in Springfield is committed to working extended hours to ensure all packages are dispatched promptly.
