CLAY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT MAKE MULTIPLE ARRESTS IN RECENT THEFTS AND BURGLARIES

On December 23rd, around 2:30 p.m., the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary report in Blair Township. The property owner reported that his 2015 Honda ATV had been stolen from a building.

 

The following day, December 24th, at approximately 12:39 a.m., deputies were called to a UTV accident at the intersection of Woods Lane and Broadway Street in Louisville. Upon arrival, they discovered that the occupants had fled the scene. Further investigation revealed that the UTV had been stolen from a property in Louisville Township just before the accident. Later that day, while investigating the thefts, deputies located the stolen 2015 Honda ATV stuck in a field in Louisville Township. They recovered the ATV and gathered evidence, leading to potential suspects.

 

As a result of this investigation, deputies arrested Dakota J. Wilson, 21, of Flora, around 1:00 p.m., charging him with Burglary. At approximately 3:10 p.m., another individual was taken into custody on a Livingston County warrant during the investigation, while deputies continued to seek another person of interest.

 

On December 26th, at around 9:45 a.m., the sheriff’s office responded to a motor vehicle theft report in Hoosier Township. During the investigation, the Sheriff spotted the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 50 at Greenbrier Lane. When attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, leading to a chase west of Highway 50 into the City of Flora. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended by the Sheriff after a two-block chase.

 

As a result of these investigations and the recent incident, Ethan K. Cosner, 24, of Flora, was arrested and charged with two counts of Burglary, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, Driving While License Revoked, and other traffic offenses. He is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

 

The sheriff’s office received assistance from the Flora Police Department and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Tech Services.
