32 year old Tyler Powless of Iuka was formally charged earlier this week in Marion County with reckless discharge of a firearm and domestic battery. Powless is accused, according to reports, of firing a handgun in a reckless manner in a pole barn this past Sunday during a family argument. He’s accused of domestic battery for allegedly shoving a family member.
Powless was released on pretrial conditions pending a first appearance in court, with counsel on January 15th.
A Kell, Illinois man has been ordered held without bond pending his next appearance in Marion County Court for felony violation of an order of protection.
A judge ruled that Christopher Baur should be held based on a history of violence toward a victim, with a third party providing statements that Baur was in contact with the protected party, and has a history of violating court orders. Baur is due in court January 21st for a preliminary hearing. Baur was arrested on December 29th when police were called to a home in Kell for an unwanted subject, and then learned the occupant had an order of protection against Baur.
