The Illinois State Police has announced that its K9 DuQ will be receiving a bullet and stab protective vest, thanks to a charitable donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interests in K9s, Inc. The K9 DuQ’s vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Born To Love-Trained To Serve-Loyal Always”. The delivery of the vest is expected to take place within the next ten weeks, according to a state police news release.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. was established in 2009 and is a 501(c)(3) charity. It’s mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. Since its inception the organization has provided over 5800 vests to K9s in all 50 states at a value of nearly $7 million, made possibly by private and corporate donations.
