140 members of the Illinois National Guard are set to deploy to Washington, D.C., to support security efforts for the 60th presidential inauguration.
The deployment includes about 110 soldiers and 30 airmen who will serve on federal orders for approximately 10 days.
Among those activated are 100 military police soldiers from the 933rd Military Police Company, based in Fort Sheridan. Additionally, around 30 security forces airmen will come from various units, including the 183rd Wing in Springfield, the 126th Air Refueling Wing at Scott Air Force Base, and the 182nd Airlift Wing in Peoria.
These troops will focus on site security as part of the federal task force. A few service members from the 5th Civil Support Team, based in Bartonville, and the 126th Air Refueling Wing will also provide specialized support in Washington, D.C.
