The National Weather Service in Paducah says a COLD WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect until 9 this (Wednesday) morning for all of Southern Illinois. Very cold temperatures with minimum wind chills from around zero to as low as 10 below. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
