Enfield’s collaborative police patrol program with neighboring Springerton and Mill Shoals is reportedly progressing well, according to the police report presented during a recent meeting of the Enfield Village Board .  Officials noted that while Springerton is waiting to renew its contract with Enfield until funding becomes available, Mill Shoals is satisfied with the program and is likely to renew once their current contract expires.

The board also discussed a noticeable decline in enforcement activity within Enfield, attributed either to the police presence or inclement winter weather. Regardless of the cause, officials agreed that crime rates have dropped.

In other updates, a recently purchased 2005 GMC vehicle has encountered mechanical issues, with the engine reportedly locking up. City officials are now considering purchasing a new truck with a warranty rather than seeking another used vehicle, although no decision has been made.

Efforts to clean and organize items at the former Booth School are ongoing, with plans to sell some items and donate others to charity. The school’s boiler has passed inspection and is functioning well. Since acquiring the school, the village has generated $900 in rental income since December. Additionally, the NCOE FFA will hold their annual banquet there in February, and NCOE has agreed to purchase a protective floor covering for the gym.

The board also entered an executive session to discuss a grant request for WP Meat Company and personnel matters, but no actions were taken upon returning from the session.
