ILLINOIS SENATE GOP PUSHES FOR ENHANCED COOPERATION BETWEEN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND ICE

By Mark Wells Jan 29, 2025 | 5:55 AM

State Senator Terri Bryant, alongside two colleagues, is championing a new legislative proposal aimed at improving cooperation between Illinois law enforcement and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to facilitate the removal of criminal illegal aliens from local communities.

Bryant criticizes Governor JB Pritzker’s policies, claiming they obstruct law enforcement’s ability to deport dangerous offenders, thereby jeopardizing public safety. She points out the significant financial strain on taxpayers due to violent criminals…illegal immigrants with felony convictions…being housed in state prisons.

Emphasizing the need for law enforcement to be empowered, Bryant argues that effective cooperation with ICE is crucial for safeguarding communities, especially in light of ongoing federal deportation initiatives.
