Rivers and Wx Info

Area rivers are running higher as of this morning.  The Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is a little above the 17-foot  flood stage at 17.5 feet.  At Clay City the stage is 14.21 feet.  Flood stage is 18 feet.  At Carmi the river is at 19.78 feet.  Flood stage is 27 feet.  The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 8.38 feet.  Flood stage is 15 feet.  The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 6.41 feet,  below the 19-foot flood stage.  Bonpas Creek at Browns is at 11.11 feet.

The next rain chances for the area is this coming Wednesday and Thursday, when the next storm system is predicted to move into the southern Illinois region.  Temperatures are expected to be mild enough for everything  to fall as rain.  Milder temperatures are also expected for the area, according to the 6 to 10 day and 8 to 14 day outlooks, along with above normal precipitation.  The 30-day outlook for the month of February, released Friday, also favors above normal temperatures and precip for the southern Illinois region.
