Two area residents are in custody following their arrests by Wayne County Sheriff’s Department Monday.
At approximately 9:00pm, Wayne County Deputies were dispatched to speak with 30-year-old Morgan D. Simmers who had been abusing 911 services by repetitively calling 911. Deputies were then informed Simmers was calling people and threatening to kill them. Deputies made contact with Simmers at his rural Fairfield residence and that’s when Simmers began cursing at the Deputies and would not speak to them. Simmers would not comply with Deputies and began resisting arrest when they attempted to take him into custody. Simmers was able to be restrained and placed in handcuffs. Simmers continued the threaten Deputies while enroute to the jail.
Simmers was booked into the Wayne County Jail on the following charges:
Intimidation
Resisting a Peace Officer
Disorderly Conduct
Around 8:15pm, Wayne County Deputies located 32-year-old Shelby L. Parker in Wayne City. Deputies took Parker into custody for active Wayne County warrants for Aggravated Arson and Arson. The warrants are from a prior case investigated by the Illinois State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department
