Two separate crashes occurred in close proximity on I-64 north of Mt. Vernon Monday night.
Illinois State Police responded to two separate crashes on i-64 north of Mt. Vernon Monday Night. State Police say around 9:18pm, a semi-truck with a trailer hit a concrete median barrier, causing the truck to roll over into the median on westbound I-64 at milepost 71. The impact dislodged the barrier, pushing it into the eastbound lanes. Shortly after, another vehicle traveling east on I-64 at milepost 73 collided with the displaced concrete barrier.
Fortunately, the driver of the semi was not injured. However, the driver of the second vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
