The Grayville City Council met Monday night for a brief session. In light of recent issues with lift station pumps, the council approved an expenditure of $5,720 to Straeffer Pump for preventative maintenance, a decision endorsed by Utility Manager Scott Irvine.

Additionally, the council conducted a first reading of Ordinance 966, which would authorize the buyback of property located at 135 Koehler Street. The city had sold the property to Sarah Weber in late September for $5,000, the same price proposed for the buyback. A second reading is scheduled for the March 10 meeting, where approval is anticipated.

The council also received updates from Rex Gower of Milano and Grunloh Engineering, as well as a report from Irvine on the utility department’s status. City Attorney Jay Walden indicated that information regarding the utility deposit ordinance is expected to appear on the agenda for the next meeting. Commissioner, Andi Ford, serving as Mayor Pro Tem is absence of Mayor Travis Thompson who was away from the meeting mentioned that she and Treasurer Sharon Walden are currently working on the budget for the next fiscal year, reporting that progress has been smooth and more information will be available at the March 10 meeting.
