By Mark Wells Apr 2, 2025 | 12:00 PM

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a serious warning for our area. A major outbreak of severe storms is expected this afternoon and evening, potentially continuing overnight. Residents should prepare for strong, long-track tornadoes, very large hail, and damaging winds. Storms are moving northeast at 60-70 mph.

Tonight, these storms will likely form a line over west Kentucky, becoming stationary and causing heavy rainfall and potential flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect starting at 1 p.m. for the entire region.

A Wind Advisory is also in place until midnight, with south winds potentially gusting between 40 to 55 mph.

From Thursday through Saturday night, multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected, with a continued Flood Watch. Significant flash flooding and rapid rises on area rivers are likely, with river flooding already forecasted in some locations. The most severe flash flooding threat is anticipated from Friday night through Saturday night.

Severe storms remain a possibility Thursday afternoon and night, as well as Friday night into Saturday. Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
