The 2025 Illinois spring trout fishing season starts tomorrow ( Saturday, April 5th) at 5am featuring opportunities at 58 lakes and ponds across the state, including Sam Dale Lake in Wayne County.
In Wayne County, trout will be stocked at the Turkey Run Shelter Pond within the Sam Dale Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area due to ongoing renovations at the main trout pond. Signs will guide anglers to the temporary location.
The daily harvest limit is five trout per angler. The Illinois catchable trout program is funded through the sale of inland trout stamps. For more details and fishing opportunities, visit ifishillinois.org
