FAIRFIELD CITY COUNCIL MET TUESDAY, NEW FOP CONTRACT APPROVED

The Fairfield City Council met with a light agenda last (Tuesday) night at Fairfield City Hall.  A public hearing was held prior to the regular meeting to open bids for the sale of property on NE 7th St.  The Council did not receive any bids, so the council will put the property back out for rebid. The Council approved the minutes from the previous meeting and payment of bills and also decided that starting in June, City Council meetings will be held only one time each month on the 2nd Tuesday.  Mayor Gary Moore says that if in the future, a decision needs to be made to go back to two council meeting a month, the Mayor and council will be open to the idea.

A new 3-year contract with the Fraternal Order Of Police was approved by the council.  The contract is for 4 and one half percent.  Mayor Moore says the council will seek bids immediately for sidewalk repairs and replacement.  The Mayor is hopeful contractors will bid per foot if possible to make it easier on the city.
