The Fairfield Community High School’s Algebra II team brought home an impressive finish this weekend, placing sixth overall at the Class 2A State Mathematics Competition held Saturday.
The event featured teams from 34 schools across Illinois. Among public schools, Fairfield finished second, with only Morton — a much larger school with over a thousand students — placing higher.
Junior Jedd Wellen earned a top individual honor, finishing tenth overall. Other members of the talented squad include juniors Allison Breuer, Ethan Hungerford, Addie Lafikes, Grady Simpson, and sophomore Ellanie Vanway.
