The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rend Lake Project will temporarily close access to the Dam West Boat Ramp and Recreation Area from sunrise until 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday for the Rend Lake Get Outdoors Event.
This yearly event promotes outdoor education for third and sixth grade students throughout southern Illinois. It is important to note that the event is not open to the general public.
During these times, there will be increased pedestrian and bus traffic near the Rend Lake Visitor Center and Dam West Recreation Area. Visitors traveling along Rend City Road are advised to proceed with caution.
