Kenneth E. Harris, 89, of Olney, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2025 at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Kenneth was born October 31, 1935 in Keenes, IL, the son of Victor and Pauline (Brown) Harris. He married Judith Franka on October 14, 1961 in Eagle Lake, TX, and she survives.
Ken started his career working in the Texas oil fields, attended Oklahoma University, and later moved back to Texas to work in the oil fields in the late 1950s. During this time, he met his wife, Judy. They moved to Olney in 1974 from California, where he had worked off-shore. After their move to Olney, they started Harris Mud and Chemical Inc. Ken introduced several new technologies throughout the 50 years the business has been in operation.
Kenneth is survived by his wife; son, Todd (Michelle) Harris; grandchildren, Abi (Drew) Robards, Matthew Harris, Maria Harris; great grandchildren, Rynn and Miller Robards; brother, Paul (Beth) Harris; sister, Florence (Vergil) McDaniel, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Scott Harris; brother, Don Harris.
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.
A visitation will be held for Kenneth from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney.
Cremation Rites will be accorded after the services, and burial will take place privately in the British Virgin Islands at a later date.
