Charles David Shorb, 88, of Aden

Charles David Shorb, 88, of Aden, IL passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 at his home in Aden.  Charles was born May 31, 1936 in Aden to Paris & Lilbern Shorb.

Charles began working while in High School, driving a truck and helping buy & sell for the Payton Sale Barn in Wayne City, while also farming with his father Paris.  He worked for several years as a logger, and he owned & operated Hawthorne Excavating in Enfield, IL.  He was also a member of Ellis Mound Baptist Church in Aden.  He enjoyed horse racing, and he owned and raced horses in sulky harness races.  He enjoyed socializing and visiting with friends and family.

Charles is survived by his significant other Sue Stout of Aden, IL; a daughter Dava Lynn Shorb of Vienna, IL; a son Charles Alan Shorb & wife Karen of Carmi, IL; 8 grandchildren: Eldon Winternheimer, Veronica Winternheimer, Noah Little, Randy Collins, Kale Stover, Morgan James, McKenzie Taylor, and Annaleise Shorb; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and a brother Delmar Shorb & wife Sonja of Belle Rive, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paris & Lilbern Shorb, a daughter Bernice Hall, and a sister Ruby Campbell.

Funeral services for Charles David Shorb will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL with Pastor George Musgrave officiating.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Garrison Cemetery in Aden, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or to the Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services (BCHFS) and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.
