Laela Kohzadi, daughter of Bobby and Iris Kohzadi of West Frankfort, has been named to the Phi Theta Kappa 2024–2025 Illinois All-State Academic Team. This honor recognizes top-performing community college students across Illinois for their academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement.
Kohzadi, a student at Frontier Community College for the past two years, was selected for the All-State Academic Team based on her outstanding GPA, leadership roles, campus and community involvement, and strong faculty recommendations. She will receive her associate’s degree from Frontier on May 9 and plans to continue her education this fall at John A. Logan College in Carterville, pursuing a degree in nursing.
During her time at Frontier, Kohzadi served as president of both the Beta Alpha Lambda chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and the Frontier Student Senate. In addition to her academic and leadership achievements, she was also a scholarship athlete on the Bobcat volleyball team for two years.
Kohzadi was formally recognized at a banquet and awards ceremony on Thursday, April 24th, at the President Abraham Lincoln DoubleTree Hotel in Springfield, Illinois. Each honoree received a medal and certificate commemorating their selection to the All-State Academic Team.
She was joined at the banquet by her Phi Theta Kappa chapter advisor, Linda Monge, along with her parents and brother.
