Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance early Wednesday morning at a residence in Mt. Vernon, resulting in the arrest of 19-year-old Chance G. Cruise.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at 14504 N. Old Union Lane around 2:30am after reports of a domestic dispute. During the incident, Cruise allegedly fired multiple shots from a firearm at the rear of the residence and then barricaded himself inside.

A search warrant was issued, and members of the High-Risk Team responded to the scene. Using a drone to assist in the operation, officers breached the front door and located Cruise inside. He surrendered peacefully without further incident.

Cruise was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. He faces charges of domestic battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and reckless discharge of a firearm. He is currently being held pending a pre-trial detention hearing.
