36-year-old Johnny Green of McLeansboro is set to appear in Wayne County Circuit Court on Thursday, May 22nd as a plea deal has been reached in the case of a fatal crash near Keenes that claimed the life of a McLeansboro man nearly a year ago
The accident happened around 11:30pm on May 24, 2024, on Wayne County Road 60N, near Keenes. Green’s Polaris RZR side-by-side hit a deer and overturned, ejecting passenger James Burrow, 54, who later died from his injuries.
Green was charged with six crimes, including reckless homicide, aggravated DUI causing a death, DUI, improper lane usage, no insurance, and unlawful operation of a non-highway vehicle on a roadway. Since last May, Green has been free under pretrial conditions, including wearing a GPS ankle monitor.
