U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) officially announced his re-election bid Thursday evening at the Monroe County GOP Century Club Dinner, securing the backing of former President Donald Trump. Bost, a longtime ally and co-chair for Trump’s Illinois campaign efforts, has now received the president’s endorsement for five consecutive election cycles.
“I am thrilled to have President Trump’s support as we continue pushing forward with the America First agenda,” Bost said in his speech. “In just a short time, we’ve made historic progress—protecting American workers, addressing the border crisis, and advancing our conservative values. But there’s still a lot of work to be done, and this Marine is not stopping until Southern Illinois has the representation it deserves.”
Trump took to Truth Social on Thursday evening to publicly endorse Bost’s re-election. He wrote: “Congressman Mike Bost is an incredible champion for Illinois’ 12th District! A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Mike has been fighting tirelessly for our military, veterans, law enforcement, secure borders, tax cuts, energy dominance, and our right to bear arms. He’s been with us from the start, helping to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Mike Bost has my full and total endorsement for re-election – HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
Bost, who first won election to Congress in 2014, has consistently been a strong ally of Trump on a wide range of issues, including border security, public safety, manufacturing, the Second Amendment, and pro-life values. Before entering Congress, Bost served as a state legislator, a small business owner, a professional firefighter, and a Marine.
