A single-engine aircraft experienced a minor accident at Mt. Vernon Outland Airport late Sunday afternoon around 4:49pm when its nose struck the runway during a landing maneuver. The pilot was uninjured.
According to Mt. Vernon Fire Department officials, the pilot was performing “touch-and-go” practice landings in an unfamiliar aircraft at the time of the incident. The plane sustained damage to its nose.
Firefighters stationed at the airport responded promptly to assist. No passengers were aboard the aircraft.
