Gov. JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) have announced that $400 million in state funding is now available for local transportation projects aimed at enhancing mobility and improving the quality of life across Illinois. The application deadline is June 1st.
“Over the past six years, we’ve made bold, historic investments to strengthen transportation across Illinois,” said Gov. Pritzker. “This $400 million investment builds on that progress by supporting local projects that connect communities and help Illinoisans get where they need to go safely and efficiently.”
Funding will be awarded to projects based on cost-effectiveness, feasibility, and safety, and may include efforts involving highways, pedestrian and bike paths, transit systems, passenger and freight rail, safety enhancements, or federal grant match initiatives. Any phase of a project is eligible, including early-stage planning and engineering.
Local governments that manage transportation infrastructure are encouraged to apply. Projects that benefit disadvantaged or economically distressed communities will receive priority. While Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goals are required, no local matching funds are necessary.
“This funding is another example of our commitment to strengthening transportation at the local level,” said Acting Transportation Secretary Gia Biagi. “We’re here to support communities through every step of the application process.”
Applications must be submitted using Microsoft Forms, and further information is available at grants.illinois.gov under CSFA 494-00-3626.
