The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has opened enrollment opportunities for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), inviting agricultural producers and landowners to submit offers now through June 6, 2025.
Administered by USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), the CRP includes both General and Continuous enrollment options, providing participants with financial and technical assistance in exchange for converting unproductive or marginal cropland into environmentally beneficial vegetation.
The program, now in its 40th year, plays a vital role in improving water quality, preventing soil erosion, and supporting wildlife habitat. Participants agree to 10- to 15-year contracts, during which the land is maintained under conservation-friendly conditions.
This year’s enrollment is supported through the American Relief Act of 2025, which extended CRP provisions through September 30th.
For questions or assistance, local producers and landowners are encouraged to contact the Wayne/Edwards Farm Service Agency at 618-842-7602.
