EDWARDS COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET TONIGHT (MONDAY) TO DISCUSS BUDGET, ENERGY SERVICES AND NEW STAFF

The Edwards County Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education is scheduled to hold its regular monthly meeting tonight (Monday) at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be in the Science Room at West Salem Grade School Jr. High.

 

Among the key items on the agenda is the approval of the consent agenda, which includes the May board agenda, minutes from the April 24th meeting, the treasurer’s report, a bill list, and the destruction of closed session audio recordings older than 18 months.

 

During the communications segment, board members will hear public participation comments and acknowledge thank-you letters or cards received from the community. The meeting will also feature the FFA Report as part of this month’s spotlight presentation.

 

Unfinished and old business will include a presentation by ENGIE, a company specializing in energy and facility management services, with possible action from the board. Additionally, the board will discuss the potential purchase of an activity bus, with decisions expected during the meeting.

 

Other significant agenda items include the approval of the district’s budget for the 2024-2025 school year and a new dual credit partnership agreement with Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC) for the same period. The board will also consider discussions regarding a possible attendance center request and a motion to approve expenses exceeding $5,000.

 

Administrative updates will be provided by the superintendent, principal, elementary principal, and a special education coordinator. The meeting will also include personnel actions such as the approval of new staff members, basketball coaches, and student council representatives.
