A Wayne County man is in custody after McLeansboro Police arrested him during a traffic stop Friday night on multiple outstanding warrants and a possible new methamphetamine charge.
20-year-old Isaiah Deem of Rinard was pulled over around 9:40 p.m. while driving a Chrysler van with expired registration. During the stop, officers discovered that Deem was wanted on six active warrants out of Clay, Hamilton, and White Counties, according to police.
Hamilton County records indicate he failed to appear in December 2024 for charges related to methamphetamine possession and traffic violations. In White County, Deem was arrested in June 2024, and later entered a plea deal in October, pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine. Five additional charges were dismissed as part of the agreement.
As part of the October judgment, Deem was sentenced to two years probation, a fine, 30 hours of community service, drug treatment, and received a six-month stayed jail sentence.
During Friday night’s arrest, McLeansboro Police reported finding methamphetamine inside the vehicle but did not disclose the amount. Deem was transported to the White County Jail, where he remains in custody pending a court appearance.
