Mandatory Human Trafficking Training Now Required in All Illinois Casinos

New administrative rules adopted by the Illinois Gaming Board will require all casinos across the state to implement mandatory human trafficking recognition training. In addition to initial training within the first three months of employment, casino staff will receive further instruction on identifying and documenting potential human trafficking situations. Casinos must also display human trafficking awareness notices. The training will include information on factors that increase vulnerability to trafficking.

 

Illinois Ranks 15th in Nation for Poor Road Conditions

According to recent research, Illinois has the 15th highest share of major roadways in poor condition, with 16.4% falling into that category. An additional 32.6% of roads are considered to be in fair condition. Only 51% of major roads are classified as being in good condition. With Illinois drivers averaging 22.5 vehicle-miles per capita daily, the report suggests state lawmakers may want to look to neighboring states like Minnesota and Indiana for road infrastructure improvement strategies.

 

New Enclosed Horse Arena Opens at Giant City State Park

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources joined local officials this weekend to celebrate the grand opening of a new enclosed horse arena at Giant City Stables, located within Giant City State Park south of Carbondale. The facility will support year-round therapeutic horseback riding programs for youth, Veterans, and individuals with disabilities. It will also be used for riding lessons and trail rides, enhancing the park’s offerings for both local residents and visitors.
