Clay County State’s Attorney Phillip M. Givens and Sheriff Andy Myers have announced that 23-year-old Trevor J. Edwards, of Fairfield, has been officially charged with Aggravated Battery following a lengthy investigation into a 2022 stabbing incident.

According to authorities, the charge stems from an altercation that occurred on or around May 1, 2022, during which Edwards allegedly used a knife to stab a victim in the side, causing bleeding and serious injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later life-flighted due to the severity of the injuries, which were described as serious but non-life-threatening.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office began its investigation immediately following the incident but initially struggled to identify a primary suspect. However, with the assistance of advanced technological services, investigators were ultimately able to conclude that Trevor Edwards was responsible for the attack.

A nationwide warrant for Edwards’ arrest was issued on April 23, 2025, shortly after the formal charge was filed on April 16.

Edwards is currently serving a sentence in Federal Prison and is expected to be released later this year. He will then face the aggravated battery charge in Clay County.
