2025 is already shaping up to be one of the most active tornado years on record for the region served by the National Weather Service in Paducah.

According to NWS officials, this year currently ranks as the third most active tornado year ever recorded in the region. What’s even more staggering is that over 550 miles of tornado tracks have already been documented — shattering the previous annual record for tornado mileage.

The region has also experienced a surge in powerful tornadoes, with nine EF-3 tornadoes confirmed so far. That marks the highest number of strong (EF-3) tornadoes in a single year since 1957.

Weather experts continue to monitor patterns closely, warning residents to stay alert and prepared as the severe weather season continues.
